[Antons] voice reminded me of a red Rioja..... it, too, has a smooth somewhat velvety mellow richness, combined with a woody timbre (definitely more woodwind than brass) yet with a certain brightness to it and a touch of sweetness..... fruitiness. Susan Vumback Low (Editor WINE magazine) Anton plays guitar, as well as singing in a style smoother than a babys bum, and more Vandross than Luther himself. GUITARIST (magazine) The highlight of the week for me though, was Anton Browne, who seems to be a cross between Al Jarreau and Mel Torme. This guy had everyone on their feet. Ron Groeher THE WORD (Magazine) Antons writing is based around solid unhurried grooves in the classic mould of Steeley Dan or Gill Scott Heron. Even when the band are changing up through the gears, his deep luxurious voice purrs along on top like the engine of a Rolls Royce. GUITARIST (magazine) Antons bevy of London fans will lay testament to the fact that this is a marvellous album-teeming with groove, good taste and above all musicality.... Browne is a master of his technique and uniquely mellow tone. Gill Manly JAZZ SINGERS NETWORK Browne has created an album of funky, soulful and mildly retro jazz sounds.... You Cant Keep A Good Man Down has the feel of a debut album and promises much for the future.... a British artiste of commendable potential. Simon Cooke Hi-Fi WORLD British Jazz and Soul vocalist with a pleasant approachable sound and a strong band. TIME OUT |
